In an Eastern Cape home in Dakwedi 6 bodies were found, a 42 year old woman and her five children aged between 6-months to 10 years old. The police found the bodies in a pile of blood beside an axe believed to be the murder weapon.
When the police arrived
at the scene they found the gruesome scene of the bodies in a pool of blood. Provincial
Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga says it is
inconceivable that this horrible crime happened on the opening
day of 16 Days of Activism.
A man believed to be a
husband to the deceased mother had disappeared without a trace and the police
asked for the community’s assistance. Moreover, the community did not take
their role for granted as the police got a tip-of about his whereabouts.
He was found hiding in
the flat of a relative. Detectives believe he was planning of running away to
his home country. He was arrested Thursday night, 24 hours after the murder.
