South Africa has recorded 10 939 new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases to 912 477.
The country also saw 254 more people succumbing
to the virus. Of these, 85 were
from the Eastern Cape, 74 from the Western Cape, 61 from KwaZulu-Natal, 18 from
Gauteng, 12 from the Free State and 4 more people died of the coronavirus in
Limpopo.
This brings the COVID-19 death toll in South
Africa to 24 539.
There are currently 100 156 active coronavirus
cases across the country, with the bulk of these coming from the Western Cape
with 32 889 cases.
Good news is that 787 782 people recovered from
the coronavirus in South Africa.
Millions of people in England and Italy will
celebrate Christmas under tough new coronavirus restrictions as Europe battles
a winter surge including a more infectious new strain.
AFP reports that Europe has become the first
region in the world to pass 500 000 COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic broke
out a year ago.
