Cape town mob justice on the rise

 Cape town has seen a rise of mob justice taking place in different twonships. Four people people killed during the mob justice taking place around the city, among them an unidentified man whose body was discovered burnt beyond recognition and dumped inside the garden of a local primary school in Browns Farm, Philippi.

The case which has since been registered by police for further investigation mimics another incident that occurred in Ravensmead.

Last week a video went viral of two men being beaten by a group of residents in Delft while the police stood and watched. It was later reported that one of the victims died shortly after the incident

Another similar incident took place two weeks ago, March 15 in Enkanini, Khayelista whereby two  residents were assaulted by member of the public for allegeded;y stealing a phone. One of the victims later died from his injuries.

Khayelitsha CPF chairperson Phindile George said while he understands the reasons why residents in the community are resorting to mob justice the forum could in no way condone the criminal acts.
