R950k worth of tobacco equipment & sanitary pads confiscated in Belville CBD

Fourteen suspects were arrested on various charges in the Belville CBD in a joint crime prevention operation, comprising of SAPS, Metro Police, City of Cape Town Law Enforcement and counterfeit goods officials, on various charges in Belville CBD on Thursday morning.

The charges include the possession of suspected stolen goods, possession of drugs, possession of dangerous weapons and theft out of motor vehicle.

‘’Car radios, knives and an assortment of drugs were confiscated as well as  counterfeit tobacco paraphernalia and sanitary pads valued at an estimated R950 000,’’ said the police’s Andre Traut.

‘’Two vehicle check points held in the area also led to the admission of guilt fines to the tune of R159 000 issued for traffic violations.’’ Traut added.

The 12 male suspects and two females are expected to make their court appearances in Bellville, once they have been charged.
