Former president Jacob Zuma is in isolation at Estcourt Correctional Centre in KwaZulu-Natal
Correctional services
spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo confirmed that all new admissions must isolate
as per Covid-19 regulations.
Former president Jacob Zuma turned himself in after days of refusing to do so.
The Constitutional Court last week sentenced the former president to 15 months in jail after it found him guilty of contempt of court.
He failed to appear before the Zondo commission, thus the apex court’s judgment sentenced him to time in jail.
The former president's daughter, Dudu Zuma-Sambudla, tweeted that she had spoken to her dad while he was "en route", and that he was "still in high spirits".
Zuma's first application to halt his arrest was
heard on Tuesday but the judgement was reserved until Friday.
Meanwhile, he has pleaded with the
Constitutional Court to reconsider and rescind its jail order.
That challenge will be heard next Monday.
Minister of justice and
correctional services Ronald Lamola is expected to outline correctional
services processes at a media briefing at the prison, this afternoon.
