On Friday, the Department of Health said that more than 7,000 people between the ages of 50 and 59 have already received their COVID-19 vaccine even though the rollout for this age group has not officially started yet.
On Thursday the electronic vaccination registration was
opened to the 50s category and people who have registered and who are eligible in
this age group can expect to get their covid-19 vaccinations from mid-July.
The department said on Thursday alone 354,000 people
over 50 registered and those who pitched up at vaccination sites were not
refused.
Dr Nicholas Crisp said they were soon planning to open
the registration for the next age group, the 40 to 49 category.
