Eskom to Implement Stage 4 of Load Shedding As of Wednesday

Eskom will implement stage 4 of load shedding starting from 12 mid-day on Wednesday up until 5am on Friday.

The power utility said in an alert that stage 4 rolling blackouts would start on Wednesday and continue until Friday. Thereafter load-shedding will continue on stage 2 up until 5am on Saturday.

This comes after a statement by Eskom on social media said that “Over the past 24 hours a unit each at Medupi, Kusile and Matla power stations tripped, while a unit each at Lethabo and Arnot power stations were forced to shut down. Which led to a constrained power system requiring extensive use of emergency reserves and, therefore, hampering the recovery of these reserve.

The total breakdowns currently amount to 14 957MW while planned maintenance is 5 301MW of capacity. Eskom has urged everyone to continue using electricity wisely.
