Stage 2 load shedding suspended

Stage 2 load shedding was suspended on Monday morning although Eskom said it will be switching off power again on the same evening and Tuesday to replenish energy reserves for the week ahead. The power utility says a unit at its Koeberg plant went offline the day before, putting its aging and unreliable infrastructure under more pressure.

More than a week ago Eskom suspended load-shedding, but warned South Africans it could be forced to implement the power cuts at the very last minute as there were still significant risks to its system.
