Vooma vaccination drive fails to meet target

18 719 COVID-19 vaccines were administered in South Africa on Sunday, the health Minster Dr Joe Phaahla said most of those were for people who are now fully vaccinated.

Although the Vooma Weekend vaccine drive is far below the 300 000 daily vaccinations target aimed at by the government.

11,5 million people in South Africa are now fully vaccinated – having received either the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines or the second dose of the Pfizer vaccines.

The NICD says 300 new cases of the coronavirus were reported and that the rate of spread of the virus at this stage remains low with the test positivity rate at 1.4%.
