A 15-year-old pupil has been arrested and charged following the killing of a pupil at school on the KZN North Coast.
According to KZN police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala, the
pupil was arrested shortly after the incident.
Gwala said that at around noon on Thursday, a group of
learners were fighting inside the school in Trenance Park, Verulam.
“During the fight, a 17-year-old male was stabbed on the
left side of the chest. He was taken to a local clinic, where he was declared
dead upon arrival. A case of murder is being investigated by Verulam SAPS.”
He appeared in the Verulam Magistrates’ Court on Friday,
and the matter was postponed to 22 April and the suspect was released into
parent’s custody.
Meanwhile in Cape Town, Lentegeur police in Mitchell’s Plain
has arrested a 16-year-old boy after the teenager stabbed a 17-year-old in front
of a high school in Woodlands on Wednesday.
According to the police’s FC van Wyk, the injured victim
was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Van Wyk added that an assault case to cause grievous bodily
harm was opened.
‘’This office can confirm that an assault with the intent
to do grievous bodily harm case (GBH) was opened for investigation at Lentegeur
SAPS, after a stabbing incident on 2022-02-17 at about 15:30. The incident
occurred in front of a high school in Mitchells Avenue, Woodlands.’’
‘’According to reports the 17 year old boy was stabbed and injured by a 16 year old boy who was bullied by the victim, and when approached today he protected himself and stabbed the boy. The 16 year old boy was arrested,’’ van Wyk added.
