Safer Streets One Gun at a Time: A Good Day for South African Police
The South African Police force were successful on Monday in taking an unlicensed gun off the streets. Members of the Anti-Gang unit followed up on information about the gun at a Strand premises. The weapon was found in a cupboard with ammunition. Once charged the suspect will appear before the Strand Magistrates court.
In an unrelated matter three suspects were arrested by Delft police for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Tuesday. "The members were busy with a stop and search operation when they spotted the delivery vehicle and searched it. The search resulted in the confiscation of a 9mm pistol and ammunition." said Sergeant Wesley Twigg. The suspects aged 21, 28, and 33 were arrested and detained. Once charged they will make their court appearances in the Bellville Magistrates court.
