The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police, Immigration, SAPS and Law Enforcement conducted an integrated operation at Cissie Gool (old Woodstock hospital) in Woodstock on Monday to execute a search warrant at the location.
‘’The warrant was granted to search the
premises, amid ongoing complaints of alleged illegal drug activity/dealing,
illegal firearm activity, shootings and extortion taking place at the site,’’
said Metro Police Chief, Wayne Le Roux.
Two suspects were arrested after officers found
drugs in their possession. Le Roux said that immigration services also found
undocumented persons on the premises, ‘’but would be best placed to elaborate
on this, and their processes.’’
Horses were used in this operation. When Bush
Radio News asked the reason behind this, Le Roux said that the Metro Police
Equestrian Unit was part of the operation, and that ‘’the height of the horses
afford officers a better vantage point than their counterparts on the ground.’’
