Kraaifontein police have opened an investigation into the killing of a Bloekombos Secondary School teacher, whose body was found in the community early on Monday morning.
The body of the 37-year-old
man, was found with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Police spokesperson Andre Traut said that police have yet to
make an arrest.
The Western Cape Education
Department (WCED) spokesperson Bronagh Hammond said that they have arranged
counselling support for the school.
Commenting on the incident,
Kraaifontein community policing forum (CPF) chairperson Robert Bissette said incidents
like these broke down the progress made by police, community safety and
residents to make the community a safer place to live.
“I am disgusted to hear that the teacher got
shot. The detectives of Kraaifontein will be investigating any leads, so we are
urging anyone who might have information that could assist police to come
forward,” Bissette said.
