Moses Makoso has been found guilty of premeditated murder, rape and kidnapping of a minor as well as obstruction of justice.
In the Pretoria’s High court
it was revealed that on the day of the incident the six year old girl along
with her brother and a friend had gone to play nearby the bush in Maboloka,
Britson April 29 last year. The 31 year old man saw the trio and used that opportunity
to call them to his house before he instructed the brother and the friend to go
back home to put on shoes.
National Prosecuting Authority
spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said “He promised to give them fish on their
return. The two boys left and he then led the little girl back to the bushes
where he raped, strangled her and set her body alight “.
When the two boys returned to
Makoso’s house, they found no one, the next day the young girl was reported
missing. This came after community search, that later resulted in them going to
Makoso’s house on 30 April where they apprehended him and handed him over to
the police.
According to police, he confessed
to killing and pointed authorities where the incident occurred.
The matter was postponed to
September 19 for sentencing.
