Mitchells Plain police are probing a case of murder and attempted murder, after a 43-year hold man was shot and succumbed to his injuries in Westridge, on Sunday evening. The deceased's daughter sustained a gunshot wound to her hand.
“On Sunday 2022-06-05 at about 18:35 Mitchells Plain SAPS members attended a complaint of a shooting at Cedars Avenue, Westridge, Mitchells Plain. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered that a 43 year old male had been shot in his back, stomach and neck. He died on the scene due to injuries sustained. The deceased daughter sustained a gunshot wound to her hand, said Captain FC van Wyk.
Van Wyk said that the deceased was a shield for his daughter as gunshots went off at the pair.
“According to reports the deceased was guiding a person that was reversing a light delivery vehicle. When an unknown vehicle stopped on the opposite side of the road. An unknown male got out of the vehicle ran towards them and started shooting at them. The deceased pushed his daughter to the ground and covered her with his body when he was shot and killed.”
The police spokesperson says the motive for the attack is unknown.
“No persons have been arrested. Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. The motive is currently unknown,” said Captain FC van Wyk.
