A 29-year-old foreign national will appear in the Tulbagh Magistrate's Court on Thursday, in connection with the mass killing in the area that occurred on Saturday.

The police’s Andrè Traut said the suspect is from Lesotho and is in South Africa, illegally.

‘Detectives attached to the Western Cape Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Unit pursued all avenues and conducted their search for a known drug dealer in the local Marikana informal settlement which resulted in the arrest of a 29 year old undocumented Lesotho national,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut

‘’The suspect is scheduled to make his court appearance in Tulbagh tomorrow [Thursday] where he will face four murder charges and one attempted murder charge,’’ added Traut.

The police spokesperson added that more arrests have not been ruled out.

‘’The investigation of this mass murder is still underway and the possibility of more arrests is not excluded,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut.
