33-year-old man handed himself over to police after he allegedly strangled a six year old child to death, in Swartkops, Gqeberha
Police believe the murder accused
is the child’s mother's ex-boyfriend, who strangled the child in revenge killing.
Police spokesperson, Colonel
Priscilla Naidu said that the body of
Thabang Klaas was found on Monday on a
footpath in the bushes between Mathys Grounds and Wells Estate in Swartkops.
This is just hours after the perpetrator had handed himself over in connection
with the murder.
“According to police
information, the suspect took the child from his grandmother's house in New
Brighton on Friday and went into the bushes between Mathys Grounds and Wells
Estate in Swartkops, where he allegedly strangled [the child]," said
Naidu.
The man faces
a charge of murder and he is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate's
Court on Wednesday. Naidu said the investigation was continuing.
