Mpumalanga farmer has been remanded in custody for running over three kids

A Mpumalanga farmer has been remanded in custody, after allegedly knocking over two children with his car, while assaulting the third.  Louis Johannes Grobbler was arrested last week Friday, a few hours after the incident took place.

Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said the attack happened after Grobler accused the children of theft. Two of the victims aged 11 and 13 sustained minor injuries and the third one aged 10 years’ old sustained serious injuries.

The 42 year old man faces two counts of attempted murder and one of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. During his bail proceeding on Wednesday, local community members demonstrated outside court and called for the magistrate to deny him bail. The case has been postponed until Friday.
