Eskom have cautioned the public of implementing stage 2 load shedding at short notice on Wednesday evening, after suffering a shortage of generation capacity.

This comes after breakdowns of a generation unit each occurred at the Majuba, Tutuka and two at Kriel power stations put a severe strain on the power generation system. Eskom has alerted the public that Stage 2 loadshedding would be implemented at short notice this evening at 16:00 – 00:00 should any further significant breakdowns happen.

‘’The delay in returning two generation units at Arnot, a unit each at Kusile and Hendrina power stations have exacerbated the electricity generation constraints,’’ said Eskom spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantshantsha.

Manthantsha has also urged South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly due to the low power system.
