Learners at a Langa school allegedly reacted to a 'spiritual calling'

Three learners at Khulani Secondary School in Langa were taken to a medical facility on Thursday, after they reportedly collapsed or fell ill

The Western Cape's Education Department's spokesperson, Bronagh Hammond, said several learners at the school allegedly reacted to a “spiritual calling.

“The WCED and EMS were alerted. EMS Paramedics were dispatched and assessed several learners of which 3 have been transported to a medical facility for further assessment.”

Hammond said the school sent out a notice to parents asking them to fetch affected students.

“The parents of all learners affected have been called and notified to collect their children. As a result of the events, other parents have come to the school to collect their children. (The school didn’t close) ,” said Hammond.

“The WCED district team has arranged for counselling support to the school. The necessary support will be provided to staff and learners,” she added.
