CoCT investigating Woodstock explosion, leaving two severely burnt

The City of Cape Town's Fire & Rescue Services are ascertaining on what exactly led to the explosion at a building in Woodstock on Thursday night.

An explosion from a building at the corner of Plein and Victoria Streets in Woodstock occurred, where a fire broke out. This led to several explosions shortly afterwards.

Two men sustained serious burn wounds, with several injuries also being reported.

"2 male victims have sustained serious burn wounds, estimated between 70% - 100% of their bodies, and have been rushed to Groote Schuur hospital with a medical triage of code red," said Mayco member for Safety and Security, JP Smith

Smith says the cause of the explosions are unknown at this stage.
