Stage 3 load shedding will continue to be implemented until further notice. The ailing parastatal initially said that Stage 3 rolling power cuts would end at 5a.m on Friday.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says the continuation
of Stage 3 load shedding is due to the delay in return to service of generation
units.
‘’The delay in the return to service of a generating unit
each at Duvha, Grootvlei, Kendal and two units at Tutuka power stations, as
well as breakdowns of a unit each at Kusile and Komati power stations have
necessitated this escalation of loadshedding. Currently, there are no units in
service at Kusile Power Station due to breakdowns on three units while one unit
is out of service on planned maintenance.’’
Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town announced its customers
will rotate between Stage 1 and Stage 3
