Duo arrested in Kuilsriver for over R1.17m abalone

Two men were arrested at Soneike in Kuilsrivier on Monday, for being in possession of over R1.17 million’s worth of abalone.

The Hawks’ Zinzi Hani said the team received a tipoff about a vehicle which was suspected to be transporting abalone.

‘’The men were caught in possession of abalone weighing more than 638 kilograms with an estimated street value of over R1.17 million.’’

The duo, aged 38 and 43, were charged with illegal possession of abalone and are expected to appear before the Kuilsrivier Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday
