A 21-year-old man was shot dead while seven others were injured in the Audrey area, at Manenberg, on Saturday night.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg,
said three men were between the ages of 25 and 31, a 25-year-old woman and
three youths between 16 and 18 years of age, were shot and injured.
Police said the incident occurred when the group were socializing
in a parking area and the perpetrators, who were in a vehicle, began shooting
at them while driving past.
Twigg added that medical services declared one man died upon
arrival.
"The 21-year-old victim was declared deceased on the
scene by medical personnel while the other victims were taken to a medical
facility for medical treatment. The motive for the attack is yet to be
established the suspects are yet to be arrested”, he said.
Police said the shooting may be gang related, while cases
of murder and attempted murder are being investigated.
This is also the
latest incident related to gang-shootings in Manenberg, after three people were
killed and three others were injured last week Wednesday.
