Eskom has announced that stage 6 load shedding will be implemented until further notice.
The embattled power utility ramped up to Stage 6 load
shedding on midday on Wednesday after previously announcing that loadshedding
will be moved from stage 3 to stage 4 from Wednesday morning.
In a short statement released just before midday, the
utility's spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha announced that power cuts will be
moved to stage 6.
"This is due to a high number of breakdowns since
midnight, as well as the requirement to strictly preserve the remaining
emergency generation reserves.”
