Power Utility Eskom announced that it will continue implementing Stage 3 and Stage 4 load shedding daily until further noticed.
It comes after the country experienced Stage 3 and stage 4
load shedding just days into the new year.
According Eskom spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantshathsa, the implementation
of load shedding is due to the breakdowns of 17 035 megawatts.
“Eskom will continue
implementing Stage 3 loadshedding during 05:00 - 16:00, and Stage 4
loadshedding during 16:00 - 05:00 daily until further notice.”
“Breakdowns amount to 17
035MW while planned maintenance is 6 189MW. Another update will be published as
soon as it is necessary,” he said.
In an unrelated matter, Eskom`s Head of
Security, Karen Pillay said the utility cannot provide any details regarding
the poisoning incident of Group Chief Executive, Andre de Ruyter, as the matter
is being investigated by officials.
“A criminal complaint has been
laid at the Hermanus Police Station under CAS 82/1/2023”, Pillay said.
