According to the latest results released by the Provincial Traffic Services for traffic operations, during the week of 6 - 12 March, 76 motorists were arrested for driving over the influence in the Western Cape.
The department, in their latest statement, has pleaded with the public to not consume alcohol before driving, as even small amounts of alcohol can impair your judgement as a driver or pedestrian.
The results of blood alcohol tests can be used as evidence in a court of law and this could result in a criminal conviction.
According to the statements, Provincial traffic services implemented a total of 295 integrated roadblocks, vehicle checkpoints and speed control operations across the Western Cape in the week of 6 to 12 March.
Of the 107 arrests that were made, 76 of them were for driving under the influence of alcohol.
