Cape Town Metro Police have recovered two firearms, drugs and stolen items in the last 24 hours.
In Heinz Park this morning, officers conducting patrols spotted two men
loitering as they approached them, one of the men started running, and dumping
items as he went along.
When he was caught, officers found him in possession of seven mandrax tablets.
As they retraced their steps, ammunition and a 9mm pistol with a further three
rounds in the magazine was found. Both suspects were detained at Samora Machel
SAPS.
Yesterday morning in Bonteheuwel, officers arrested two suspects for possession
of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. This is after bystanders tipped off
officers about a firearm in their possession.
Meanwhile in the CBD, recovered numerous suspected stolen cellphones last
night.
Officers on patrol in Long Street, were approached by a member of the public
who informed them that a group of men in a white BMW had robbed students of
their phones.
They found nine cellphones in the vehicle, and five men were taken into custody
at Cape Town Central SAPS.
