The DA has announced
the candidates who will compete for leadership positions.
A surprise candidate is
the unknown Lungile Phenyane who is challenging John Steenhuisen and Mpho
Phalatse for the position of party leader.
Phenyane is also challenging
Helen Zille for the party's powerful position of chairperson for federal
council. He is also running for the position of federal finance
chairperson.
“There will be debates
between candidates before the conference starts” said the DA.
The candidates
competing for the party leadership position will be allowed to address the
congress for five minutes.
The elective congress will be held over two days on 1 and 2 April.
