Measles cases increases to 10 in the Western Cape

The confirmed measles cases in the Western Cape have increased to 10. The provincial Department of Health says all the confirmed cases were reported in the Cape Town metropolitan district.

The Department’s spokesperson Byron La Hoe urged parents to vaccinate their children against the disease and they have until the 31st March to vaccinate their children against measles as part of vaccination national campaign. This will contribute to increasing protection against measles.

An outbreak has been declared in all the provinces in South Africa, except for the Eastern Cape. A total of 420 097 measles vaccines have been administered provincially as part of measles vaccination campaign.
