More than 15 800 online school applications for 2024 were received in the Western Cape, during the first 24 hours of the system being opened.
The Western Cape’s Education Department (WCED) said with
parents applying for more than one school for their children, the total number
of individual applications to schools received on the first day of the
applications window is 54 910, which is over 12 000 more applications than they
received on the first day of applications in 2022.
“The first day of the 2024 admissions process in the
Western Cape went very well, with applications for 15 843 learners received
during the first 24 hours of the system being opened,’’ said David Maynier,
Western Cape’s Education MEC.
Maynier urged parents/guardians to log a query using the
“contact us” option at the top of the admissions website page, should they
experience any difficulties applying for their child/ren.
‘’We urge parents not to be alarmed if they face any
technically difficulties. We do have a very high volume of users online at the
moment, and parents may find that they are able to access the site after a few
minutes.’’
‘’Any other problems can and will be dealt with by our
staff, and we thank parents for their patience and for heeding our call to
apply on time this year,” he added.
Meanwhile, the WCED are hosting enrolment days across the
Cape Metro from 9a.m to 6p.m to help you apply. The enrolment days kicks off on
Wednesday in Hout bay and will end on the 14 April in Heideveld.
