The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has welcomed conviction of Kyle Ruiters for the murder of 32-year-old Lynette Volschenk in 2019.
Volschenk was stabbed to death inside her flat.
Ruiters was found guilty of premeditated murder, violating
a corpse and attempting to defeat the administration of justice.
He dismembered the victim’s body using a handheld saw.
NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, says the state has
asked the court to refer Ruiters for a 30-day psychiatric evaluation.
‘’This is in line with a report of Valkenberg Psychiatric
Hospital who declared that he diiferent psychopathic traits and could be a
danger to the physical and mental wellbeing of others
‘’The court indicated that he will be kept in custody until
a place is available at the hospital,’’ he added.
The case has been postponed to 9 June.
