The driver who was arrested after five school children died whilst transporting them to various schools in Mitchell's Plain, on Tuesday, says he intends to apply for bail.
56-year-old Mninikhaya Mvuli appeared at
the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court on Thursday and is charged with five counts
of culpable homicide and one count of reckless driving.

Two other learners are in a serious condition in hospital.
‘’Mvuli told the court that he intends to apply for bail,
and his case has been postponed until next Monday, 5 June 2023, for a bail
application date. The state will oppose his bail application,’’ said Eric
Ntabazalila, Western Cape National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson.
