One person sustained injuries after a fire broke out in Albert Road, Woodstock, on Tuesday afternoon.
The City of Cape Town’s Fire & Rescue Services
spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, said firefighters are currently containing the
blaze of the two storey structure.
‘’ Currently we have about 24 firefighters on
scene at the building fire in Woodstock. The City's Fire and Rescue Service was
alerted just after 12:30 of a building alight in Albert Road.
‘’The first arriving crew from Salt River immediately
assessed the situation and called upon additional resources. On scene we have
firefighters from Salt River, Roeland Street, Brooklyn, Epping and Milnerton. This
is a fluid situation with the two storey structure well alight,’’ he added.

The City’s Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson, Jermaine
Carelse, said the fire was extinguished at approximately 15:30 on Tuesday.
"The two-storey building sustained substantial damage,
and half the structure collapsed," he said.
Carelse added that a Structural Engineer will be called to
site once safe, to determine the way forward.
