Several community healthcare facilities have been affected by heavy rain on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, in the Northern and Tygerberg District.
Bishop Lavis Community Day Centre (CDC); Symphony Way CDC
in Delft; and Parow CDC, were affected due to flooding, but services have
resumed at these facilities.
Meanwhile, Ravensmead clinic has experienced a power outage.
Western Cape Health and Wellness Department Spokesperson, Shimoney
Regter, said the lighting inside of the facility has been affected.
‘’Facility management is working with local authorities to
restore power to the facility. Services remain available at the facility.’’
Regter said mop-up operations have since commenced and appealed
for patience as safety issues may impact operations and urge members of the
public to follow advice from local authorities.
‘’Western Cape Government Health and Wellness is monitoring
the situation and we’re making every effort to ensure that our healthcare
facilities are safe to provide much-needed services to our communities. We want to provide for the safety and welfare
of both the public and our healthcare teams. We urge all community members to
work with local authorities. Thank you for your patience and cooperation,’’
said Shimoney Regter, Western Cape Health and Wellness Department Spokesperson.
