The Robinson Pass between Oudtshoorn and Mossel Bay was closed on Sunday, after a truck burnt out on the R328 past Ruiterbos.
According to the Garden Route District Municipality,
clean-up operations of the diesel spillage is underway.
The Disaster Management Manager, Adel Supra-Vertue, says no
injuries were reported.
‘’Oudtshoorn firefighters have concluded their work at the
fire scene and Garden Route District Fire Department have taken over the scene
and will be handling the diesel spillage. [I] extend the teams gratitude to
their counterparts in Mossel Bay for their help and assistance with the fire scene
this morning.’’
She says that the road is expected to be opened to traffic
again by 16:00 on Sunday.
The R328 to Oudtshoorn is closed from Hartenbosheuwels. Traffic is being diverted from Hartenbos on an alternative route to Oudtshoorn.
