R2.8 million illegal abalone seized in Table View

Three suspects, aged between 40 and 60, will appear in a Cape Town court soon, after they were caught being in possession of R2.8 million’s worth of illegal abalone.

Sergeant Wesley Twigg said officers gathered information about a premises in Eidenburgh, West Beach, Table View where abalone are stored.

‘’The members operationalised the information received and pounced on the premises where they ensued with a search of the facility. During the search the members discovered a drying facility with equipment and 7855 units of dried abalone. A Landrover used as a mode to transport the abalone, was also confiscated,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg
