Western Cape High Court grants forfeiture order for a vehicle used in criminal activity

The Western Cape High Court granted a final forfeiture order for a vehicle asset worth over R70 200.00 last Thursday.

This comes after the Hawks received information in October 2022 about a black Audi A3 that was allegedly transporting abalone from the Overberg area. The vehicle was found in Kuilsrivier.

According to the Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, the owner of the vehicle was once arrested for an abalone-related incident in 2019.

Vukubi added that upon searching, the team discovered abalone worth over one-million rand on the owner’s premises.
