Western Cape police arrested a suspect on charges related to an illegal firearm and ammunition this past weekend. The members committed to removing illegal firearms and ammunition from the community acted on information they received about a shooting incident and proceeded to patrol in Neethling Street, Roodewal, Worcester.
According to SAPS’ Captain Frederick van Wyk, the officers saw a saw a male person pointing another person with an object that look like a firearm. The victim started running and when the suspect saw the police vehicle, he fled too. The members chased him and caught him carrying a black zip gun in his hand, with one R5 round in the chamber.
“On searching the suspect, the members found another three R5 rounds in his pocket. The suspect was arrested and detained. The zip gun and four R5 rounds were handed in as exhibits.”
The suspect will appeared in the Worcester Magistrates court on Monday 3
July the mentioned charges.
