Police arrest suspects for dealing in drugs and firearms

Western Cape police arrested suspects on Tuesday for dealing in drugs.

The two male suspects aged 31 and 41 were arrested in Samora Machel after the police searched the suspects’ premises and discovered drugs.

“Members of Operation Restore received a tip-off about a premises where drugs are being stored and sold in Thamsanqa Rhubisana Streets, Samora Machel. Upon their arrival, the members ensued with a search of the premises and found a consignment of drugs consisting of 65 full mandrax tablets and 65 crystal meth (Tik) as well as an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of drugs. The suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once charged,” said Police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk.

He added that other suspects were arrested in another incident in Delft for robbery.

In an unrelated matter, members of Kleinmond SAPS received information about an illegal firearm and ammunition at a premises on Monday. A 33-year-old suspect was apprehended for being in possession of a 9mm Norinco firearm and 17 rounds of ammunition which was confiscated.

He was arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and the suspect will appear in the Caledon Magistrates court on Wednesday, on the mentioned charges.
