The Department of Basic Education confirmed that the 2023 NSC examination papers has not been leaked.
This comes after posts on social media suggests that some
of the matric exam papers were leaked, others suggesting that a rewrite are on
the cards.
"The Minister of Education, Mrs. Angie Motshekga has
made no such announcement about any incident related to examinations. The
social media posts are a pure fabrication that are malicious," said the
department in a statement.
Thursday marked the halfway mark for candidates who is
writing the NSC exams. Motshekga says no irregularities occurred within this
period.
"This implies that the measures put in place to secure
the examinations are working well thus far. A total of 136 out of the 231
question papers has been written and today [Thursday] is day 15 of the 28 day
examination period."
Meanwhile, the Western Cape's Education Department hopes
that the matric final exams continue without any incidents.
“We urge everyone in our province to continue making our matrics the VIPs of the Western Cape until the last paper is written on the 5th
of December 2023!," said David Maynier, Western Cape Education MEC.
"We wish all of our candidates well for the remaining
exams. Good luck, do your very best, and we will celebrate with you in
January!” he added.
