A 34-year-old man has drowned at Saunders Beach in Bantry Bay.
The National Sea Rescue Institute’s Craig Lambinon said
rescue teams responded to reports of a drowning in progress at 19:30 on Wednesday
evening.
‘’ Police have opened an inquest docket following
a drowning accident at Saunders Beach, Bantry Bay. On arrival on the scene a
local man, believed to be 34 years old, in a critical condition from injuries
sustained in what appears to be a drowning accident, was treated by paramedics.’’
‘’A bystander doctor and rescue services assisted. Sadly,
despite extensive efforts to save the mans life, the man was declared deceased,’’
added Lambinon.
