Mediclinic Cape Gate says it is providing trauma counselling to those affected by Tuesday’s crash at the Hospital in Brackenfell.
Eight people were injured after a VW Polo drove into the restaurant,
which is situated near the entrance to the medical facility.
The driver and a passenger, some bystanders, and restaurant
staff members, were injured.
The cause of the incident is unknown.
Western Cape police are probing the matter.
"Circumstances surrounding an accident this [Tuesday] afternoon,
where a motorist lost control of her vehicle and went through the window of a
hospital in Brackenfell, are under investigation. Police registered an accident
report. The adult lady and her husband were treated at the hospital," said
Captain F.C van Wyk.
He said the female driver lost control of the vehicle,
adding that the passenger was the woman's husband.
