Fleet of vehicles alight at a Maitland Motor Spare Parts shop

The City of Cape Town is investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at a Maitland motor spare shop, on Tuesday night.

The City’s Fire & Rescue Service’s spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, said substantial damages to a fleet of vehicles at the View Motor Spare Parts, were sustained and no injuries were reported.

‘’ The City’s Fire & Rescue Service was alerted at approximately 22:55 of a car alight in Voortrekker Road, Maitland, on Tuesday 5 December,’’ said Carelse.

‘’Crews from Goodwood, Brooklyn, Salt River, Roeland Street, Belhar and Epping were on scene with a total of nine firefighting resources and almost 30 staff,’’ he added.

Carelse said the fire was extinguished just after 01:00.
