Western Cape police have opened an inquest docket, after an almost two-year-old girl allegedly fell into a drain in Kensington on Saturday.
The police’s Joseph Swartbooi confirmed that the body of little
Skyler Salie has been recovered and brought to the surface.
Ward 56 councillor, Cheslyn Steenberg, called upon the
community to avoid speculation on what transpired.
‘’Yesterday, Saturday, 16 December 2023 after a grueling
few hours of search and rescue, emergency services were able to retrieve the
body of a girl child, 1 year 7 months, Skyler Salie. The circumstances around her untimely passing
is being investigated by the SAPS. I thus call upon the community to practice
patience in this regard. Avoid speculation and gossip. Rather wait for the authorities
to convey the facts,’’ said Cheslyn Steenberg, Ward 56 councillor.
