The Good Party has suspended its Western Cape Provincial Legislature member, Peter de Villiers following allegations of sexual misconduct.
The party's Secretary-General & Member of Parliament, Brett Herron, says the formwer Springbok coach has not been found guilty of the
allegations, but the seriousness of the charges necessitated immediate
suspension.
“The party will implement disciplinary processes to determine if the provisions of its constitution have been breached. Given the sensitive nature of the allegations, the party will, for now, be making no further comment on the matter.''
Herron added that de Villiers will no longer take
part in all of the party's activities pending disciplinary processes.
"GOOD's constitution is unambiguous on gender relations and gender-based violence. The constitution applies to all members, regardless of position,'' said Brett Herron, Secretary-General & Member of Parliament.
When De Villiers joined the orange party in May 2023,
Herron described him as ‘’a humble and honest leader, with no interest in
tenders or political games.’’
