Police welcome sentences against Flakka-gang

The Western Cape police management welcomed the lengthy sentences handed down to the Flakka-gang on Friday.

It is reported that the gang terrorised the Muizenberg community with gang related activities and violent crimes in 2019.

The Anti-Gang Unit conducted a major investigation involving the leader of the gang, Jamiel Jacobs.

During 2019 detectives of the AGU traced Jamiel Jacobs to Paarl where he was hiding in a security complex and arrested him.

According to the police spokesperson, Lt Col Malcolm Pojie, Jacobs killed a number of rival gang members and was involved in selling drugs and firearms.

“ He was convicted and sentenced last week on offences including attempted murder, dealing in drugs, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition”, he added.
