Maitland police arrested four suspects in Khayelitsha after they were allegedly linked to an armed robbery that took place on Sunday at PEP stores in Gatesville.
‘’Members of Maitland Flying Squad received information
about a vehicle suspected to have been used in an armed robbery that took place
the same day at a clothing retail store in Gatesville. At around 14:00 members
spotted the vehicle in Khayelitsha, approaching from the opposite direction.
They turned around to pull the vehicle over. One of the suspect’s that was
inside the vehicle pointed the members with a firearm upon which the members
fired shots towards him, wounding him in his right shoulder,’’ said Captain FC
van Wyk, Western Cape police spokesperson.
The suspects face charges of armed robbery, pointing of
firearm, possession of imitation firearm and possession of stolen property and
cash.
The suspects will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’
court, once charged.
