Counterfeit Goods Confiscated in Green Point

Western Cape police confiscated counterfeit goods and fake clothing worth R200 000. These goods were confiscated during an integrated operation close to Green Point stadium on Saturday.

The operation was between SAPS, law enforcement and brand protectors. Members selling the counterfeit goods, stalls were removed and confiscated, as the goods were imitations of well-known sports brands. The members were issued fines for the illegal informal trading without a valid permit.

The Western Cape police provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Thenbisile Patekile, expressed his thanks for the removal of counterfeit goods and fake products, he says it is economic sabotage and that this should stem warning to those who trade counterfeit goods.
