Western Cape police has appealed to the public to refrain from making false bomb threats.
On Friday morning, shoppers and employees had
to vacate Tygervalley Mall, after the shopping centre situated in Bellville, received
a bomb threat.
‘’Bellville police responded to a bomb threat
at a shopping centre in Bellville on Friday, 06 December 2024. SAPS K9 and Bomb
disposal Units were dispatched to the scene and after their inspection the
building was declared safe. A case docket was registered for further
investigation and no arrests have been made,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg,
Western Cape police spokesperson.
Police said making false bomb threats causes
unnecessary panic, ‘’and utilization of resources that could have been used in
real life situations where their expertise are needed.’’
