Appeal to public to refrain from making false bomb threats

Western Cape police has appealed to the public to refrain from making false bomb threats.

On Friday morning, shoppers and employees had to vacate Tygervalley Mall, after the shopping centre situated in Bellville, received a bomb threat.

‘’Bellville police responded to a bomb threat at a shopping centre in Bellville on Friday, 06 December 2024. SAPS K9 and Bomb disposal Units were dispatched to the scene and after their inspection the building was declared safe. A case docket was registered for further investigation and no arrests have been made,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Police said making false bomb threats causes unnecessary panic, ‘’and utilization of resources that could have been used in real life situations where their expertise are needed.’’
